By far the largest killer outdoors, learn well-rounded approaches to managing temperature world-wide. Topics covered include primitive & low-tech emergency shelter strategies, emergency fire-starting techniques, dressing for the outdoors, and much more.

Mindset, Rest, & Cognitive/Emotional Management For Emergencies:
Having a proper approach to handling fear, panic, stress, and energy levels is critical for making it through outdoor survival situations.

Hydration. Water-finding / Safety, Hydration Management Methodologies:
Learn how to locate water in the wilderness as well as how to make sure it’s safe to drink with and without modern tools or materials.

Date & Time: This course runs from 10 AM to 3 PM unless specifically noted otherwise. Available class dates are noted below for each location.

Orange County & Los Angeles:
Training events are held at various locations throughout the OC/LA Area.
Most events are held at Firestone Scout Reservation in Brea CA. Directions and other preparation specifics are generally send out a few weeks prior to the course.

San Francisco Bay Area:
Training events are held at various locations throughout the SF Bay Area in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Many are presently held near Boulder Creek and Livermore CA. Please refer to details provided for your specific event at registration.
San Diego County:
Training events are held at various locations throughout the San Diego Area.
Many trainings take place at Mataguay Scout Ranch.

Sacramento/Lake Tahoe:

What Gear do I need to bring?
We suggest that you come dressed to spend a day outdoors where weather can change ( close-toed shoes, long pants, light-weight long-sleeve shirt, a hat, and cold-weather/rain gear as needed). It is also a good idea to pack a lunch/snacks, plenty of drinking water, as well as something to takes notes with if you wish. You may also want to bring a camera for still photography as permitted by the instructor. We’ll provide all the other things needed for your survival adventure.
Age Requirements?
This course is appropriate for all ages 5+, however it is a fast-paced learning experience geared towards teens and adults. All participants under the age of 18 must have a participation agreement signed by their parent or legal guardian and children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the course who is also participating as a registered course student. Class Sizes: The average class size for this course is between 15 and 20 people. Classes are limited to a maximum of 30 participants.
